何かが終わったあと、次の段階や活動に進むことを表す表現です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に学業や仕事など、段階的な進行に使います。'go on to say'（続けて言う）、'go on to become'（その後〜になる）など。物理的な移動には使いません。

Examples

After high school, she went on to college.

高校の後、彼女は**次に**大学に進学しました。

He explained the rules and then went on to describe the game.

彼はルールを説明してから、**そのまま**ゲームについて説明しました。

She read the letter and went on to answer it.
