鋭いもので長く深く切られたり裂けたりした状態を表す言葉です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に人や動物、物の深く開いた傷に使います。「gashed arm（深く切られた腕）」のように体の部位とよく一緒に使われます。浅い傷や小さな切り傷には使いません。
