警察や警備員が安全確認のために人の体や服の上を手早く調べて隠し物がないか確認すること。

主に警察や警備職の場面で使われます。「身体検査」「ボディチェック」は人に対して使い、カバンなどの持ち物には別の表現を使います。動物や子どもが跳ね回る意味は非常に稀です。
