'চল্লিশতম' সাধারণত বিশেষ দিন, বার্ষিকী বা তালিকায় সংখ্যায় দেওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন 'চল্লিশতম জন্মদিন', 'চল্লিশতম বার'। আনুষ্ঠানিক বা বিশেষ প্রসঙ্গে বেশি ব্যবহৃত।
