祖先は、あなたの家族で過去に生きていた人、例えば曾祖父母などを指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に文語的・フォーマルな場面や文章で使われます。たいてい複数形（forebears）で使われ、『descendant』（子孫）とは逆の意味です。「ancestor」と同じ意味ですが、文体にバリエーションを付けたいときによく使われます。
