簡単には燃えず、火による損傷に強い性質を持つものや、そう作られたものを指します。

主に服や金庫、ドアなどの素材に使われます。動詞として「耐火加工する」と使うこともあります。「flame-retardant（難燃）」と完全に同じ意味ではありません。

This safe is fireproof.

この金庫は**耐火性の**です。

We need fireproof clothing for the job.

作業には**耐火性の**服が必要です。
