Definition

ゴルフでは、フェアウェイはティーからグリーンまでの短い芝生部分を指します。航路や水路などで船が通れる部分を指すこともあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にゴルフで使われます。「hitting the fairway」は良いショットでボールがフェアウェイに乗る意味です。航路ではやや珍しい用法です。「runway」や「pathway」と混同しないようにしましょう。
