এটি আইনি, সংবাদ বা অপরাধ সংক্রান্ত আলোচনায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'extortionist' সবসময় নেতিবাচক মানে প্রকাশ করে। 'blackmailer' গোপন তথ্য দিয়ে কাজ করে, কিন্তু 'extortionist' জোর বা ভয় দেখায়।
