展示会は作品などを一般に公開するイベントです。説明や物語の導入部として、背景情報を伝えるときにも使います。

‘exposition’はフォーマルやアカデミックな場面で使われます。文学では導入部分、アートやビジネスでは展示会を指します。‘explanation’（説明）や‘expose’（暴露）と混同しないように注意。『展示会を開く（hold an exposition）』という表現があります。
