Bir şeyin değeri, miktarı veya büyüklüğü hakkında, genellikle eksik bilgiye dayanarak yapılan görüş veya yaklaşık bir hesaplama anlamına gelir.

'Estimation' resmî ve teknik bir kelimedir; iş, mühendislik veya finansta sıkça kullanılır. 'In my estimation' şahsi görüş belirtir, 'cost estimation' ise maliyet tahmini demektir.
