続く起こる（出来事の結果として）

Definition

ある出来事のすぐ後に、しばしばその結果として別の出来事が起こること。

主にフォーマルや文学的な場面で使われます。日常会話ではあまり使われず、より一般的には「followed」などが使われます。例えば「静寂が続いた」「混乱が起きた」など。

The storm passed, but confusion ensued.

嵐が過ぎ去ったが、混乱が**続いた**。

After the announcement, a long silence ensued.

発表の後、長い静寂が**続いた**。

Chaos ensued when the alarm rang.

警報が鳴ると、**混乱が続いた**。

He made a joke, and laughter ensued.

彼が冗談を言うと、笑いが**続いた**。
