Daha çok teknik veya bilimsel açıklamalarda kullanılır. 'in glass', 'in plastic', 'in ice' ile birlikte sıkça görülür. Canlılarda gündelik dilde tercih edilmez; bunun yerine 'örtülü' veya 'sarılmış' kullanılır.
