Definition

바늘과 실로 천이나 옷에 무늬나 그림을 넣어 장식하는 것. 때로는 이야기에 과장된 내용을 추가하는 의미도 있음.

주로 실제 자수를 의미하지만, '이야기를 자수하다'는 식으로 과장하거나 첨가하는 의미도 있다. '천', '이름', '이야기' 등과 함께 자주 쓰임.
