Definition
おりとは、コーヒーやワインなどの液体の底にたまる小さな固形物です。比喩的に、集団や社会の中で最も望ましくない部分を指すこともあります。

多くの場合複数形（the dregs）で使います。飲み物や食べ物の文脈で使われやすいですが、集団などの中で最も好ましくない部分を指す際にも使われ、やや否定的なニュアンスがあります。
