布や服などをゆるく、または美しく何かの上にかけたり覆ったりすること。優雅に飾るニュアンスもある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'over', 'around', 'across' などの前置詞とよく使う。布や衣服がゆるやかにかかっている時に使い、ただ覆う 'cover' とは異なるニュアンス。
