Se usa para decirle a alguien que lo que espera es muy poco probable que ocurra, así que no debería esperar por ello.

Expresión informal, suele tener un tono algo sarcástico. Se usa para bajar expectativas cuando algo parece muy difícil o lejano. No es literal: no se refiere a contener la respiración de verdad.
