'Denting' significa hacer una marca hundida en una superficie al golpearla o presionarla. También puede usarse de manera figurada para dañar la apariencia, el valor o la confianza de algo.

Se usa frecuentemente para metales o coches, pero también se emplea de forma figurada ('denting someone's reputation'). Es más informal. Expresiones habituales: 'denting el coche', 'denting su confianza'. No es sinónimo de 'romper' (más grave).
