亡くなった人の身体を火で焼いて遺灰にすること。多くは葬儀の一環として行われる。

主にフォーマルで敬意を込めた会話、葬儀の話で使います。『火葬にする』『火葬された』などの形で用いられ、軽率な場面や冗談での使用は避けましょう。
