Definition

信条とは、特に宗教的な信念や原則の体系、または正式に表明された信仰や指針となる理念を指します。

「creed」は公式や法律的な表現（例：「人種・宗教・信条に関係なく」）として使われます。キリスト教では「使徒信条」「ニケア信条」などが有名です。個人の人生理念にも使われます。
