コルディエラは、地域にまたがる長い山脈や山系のことです。いくつかの並行する山脈が集まった大規模な山の連なりを指します。

主に地理や地質学で使われ、日常会話ではあまり使われません。「山脈」よりも専門的かつ広範な場合に使われます。並行した複数の山脈がある地域に多いです。
