عمل الاستمرار في شيء أو السماح له بالاستمرار؛ شيء يتبع أو يمد ما سبق.

غالبًا ما يستخدم في السياقات الرسمية أو الأكاديمية ويأتي مع 'of' مثل 'the continuation of the project'. لا يُستخدم عادة للأشياء المادية (يفضل 'امتداد'). يمكن أن يشير إلى أجزاء لاحقة أو تكملة.
