Definition

会衆とは、普通は宗教的な礼拝や活動のために集まる人々のグループを指します。他の集まりの意味もありますが、主に教会の人々を指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にキリスト教の教会など宗教的な場面で使います。「会衆が立ち上がった」「会衆に説教する」など。一般の集まりにはほとんど使いません。「国会（congress）」や「集会（assembly）」とは異なります。
