자신이 남보다 더 중요하거나 똑똑하다고 여기며, 다른 사람을 아래로 보는 태도.

격식 있고 부정적인 의미. '거만한 어조', '거만하게 대하다' 등으로 자주 쓰임. 'patronizing'과 혼동하기 쉽다. 누군가의 잘난 체하는 태도를 비판할 때 사용함.
