人やチームが他の人よりも優れていることを競い合うイベントや活動。スポーツや歌の大会など幅広く使われます。

運動大会や歌のコンペなど、体を使うものにも使わないものにも使います。複数の大会を指す時によく複数形になります。「コンテスト」とは区別し、日常的に開催されるイベントに使われる傾向があります。
