Definition

掛け布団とは、ベッドで使うふかふかで厚い布団のことです。また、古い言い方で人を慰める人も指しますが、日常的ではありません。

日本語の「掛け布団」は寝具としてだけ使います。人について使うことは非常にまれです。アメリカ英語の“comforter”はイギリス英語の“duvet”と同じものです。
