주위를 돌다(이야기에서) 빙빙 돌려 말하다

Definition

무엇이나 누구의 주위를 원을 그리며 도는 것. 대화에서 직접적으로 말하지 않고 돌려 말할 때도 쓴다.

새, 사람, 차량의 움직임을 말할 때 많이 쓰이고, 대화에서 본론을 피할 때도 쓴다. 'circle around the topic'처럼 주제를 빙빙 도는 의미로도 사용한다. 주로 구어체에서 쓴다.

The birds circle around the lake every morning.
