Definition

重要ではないことについて気軽に話すこと。カジュアルで形式ばらない会話。

ビジネスやパーティー前など、公式ではない状況でよく使います。「make chitchat」「engage in chitchat」などの表現あり。真剣な会話には使いません。

We made some chitchat before the meeting started.

会議が始まる前に少し**雑談**しました。
