キャラクタリゼーションは、物語の中で登場人物の性格や行動、考え方などを作家が描写し、表現することです。また、何かや誰かの特徴を説明することも指します。

主に文学や映画、演劇の分析で使われます。「優れたキャラクタリゼーション」「微妙なキャラクタリゼーション」などの表現があります。人や物の特徴説明にも使いますが、「キャラクター」（人物）や「特徴」とは異なります。
