棺宝石箱（装飾的な箱）

Definition

棺は亡くなった人の遺体を納めて埋葬や火葬に使う箱で、主に木や金属でできています。まれに貴重品や宝石を入れる装飾的な箱も指すことがあります。

アメリカ英語では「casket」が埋葬用、「coffin」はイギリス英語でよく使われます。宝石箱など装飾箱の意味は古く珍しい用法です。葬儀や追悼の場面で使われることがほとんどです。
