孤立的平頂山丘，兩側陡峭，通常出現在乾旱或沙漠地區。比桌山（mesa）小。

'Butte' 是地理專有詞，多出現在地質學或美國西部景觀描述。發音近似“biut”。不要與較大較寬的'mesa'或沒有平頂的'hill'混淆。
