‘Etkin ucu’ bir aletin iş yapan, tehlikeli ya da en önemli kısmını ifade eder. Bazen bir sürecin en kritik aşaması için de kullanılır.

Resmî olmayan, daha çok mecazi bir ifadedir. Genellikle aletlerin tehlikeli ya da ana işlev gören yeri için kullanılır. ‘business side’ ile karıştırmayın.
