'উদ্ভিদবিদ্যা' একাডেমিক বা বৈজ্ঞানিক প্রসঙ্গে ব্যবহৃত হয়; সাধারণ গাছের পরিচর্যা বোঝাতে নয়। 'উদ্ভিদবৈজ্ঞানিক' হলো সংশ্লিষ্ট বিশেষণ।
