本棚は、本を置くための棚のついた家具です。大きさはさまざまで、家庭や学校、オフィスによくあります。

「本棚」は数えられる名詞で、複数形も使います。「木製の本棚」「本棚を埋める」「造り付けの本棚」など表現します。「本棚」と「本の棚」はときどき入れ替えて使う場合もありますが、通常「本棚」は複数の棚がある家具を指します。
