Definition

ブランダーバスは、口が広い古いタイプの銃で、17〜18世紀によく使われていました。また、どんくさくて騒がしい人や行動を例えて表すこともあります。

現代では歴史や文学で主に使われ、武器として今はほぼ使いません。比喩的に「blunderbuss approach」のように、勢いはあるが繊細さが足りない行動にも用いられます。'blunder'（単なるミス）とは区別してください。
