ऐसा कुछ करना जो तकनीकी रूप से कानून के खिलाफ न हो, लेकिन उसकी असली भावना या उद्देश्य के खिलाफ हो, अक्सर व्यक्तिगत लाभ के लिए।

यह बोलचाल की अभिव्यक्ति है और इसमें अक्सर आलोचनात्मक अर्थ होता है। इसमें जुगाड़ या कानून में छेद ढूंढने का भाव है, न कि साफ-साफ अपराध। 'try to bend the law', 'find ways to bend the law' आम तौर पर इस्तेमाल होते हैं। 'break the law' (कानून तोड़ना) से अलग है।
