肩に2本のストラップで背負うバッグで、学生や旅行者、登山者によく使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「backpack」は学生が使うスクールバッグ、旅行やアウトドアで使うリュックサックなど、幅広い用途に使います。「スーツケース」や「ハンドバッグ」には使いません。イギリス英語では「rucksack」とも言います。
