Bir işi yapmak için yetkili bir makam veya kurumdan alınan resmi izin veya onay. Bu izni belgeleyen evrakı da ifade edebilir.

'Yetki' ve 'izin' kelimeleri resmi/kurumsal işlerde, evrak ve süreçlerde kullanılır. Örneğin: 'yetki vermek', 'yetki gerektirmek', 'yazılı yetki'. 'Authentication' (kimlik doğrulamadan) farklıdır.
