Definition
Si mantienes a alguien o algo a distancia, evitas acercarte demasiado, física o emocionalmente. También se puede usar para relaciones donde prefieres una distancia prudente.

Se usa tanto en sentido literal como figurado (distancia emocional o social). Común en inglés formal e informal. Aparece frecuentemente con 'keep' o 'hold'. No confundir con 'at hand' ('cerca').
