체포하다이해하다 (격식체)

Definition

주로 경찰이 누군가를 체포하는 것. 격식체나 문학적 표현에서는 어떤 의미를 이해한다는 뜻도 있다.

‘체포하다’는 공식적·경찰 관련 상황에서 자주 쓰이고, ‘이해하다’의 뜻은 문학적 또는 격식 있는 경우에만 사용됨. ‘comprehend’와 혼동하지 않도록 주의.

The police apprehended the thief last night.

경찰이 어젯밤 도둑을 **체포했다**.

It took hours to apprehend the suspect.
