リーダーを助ける人、特に宗教儀式で補佐をする人、または影響力のある人物に忠実に従う人。

やや格式ばった言葉で、宗教儀式の補佐や熱心な取り巻きに使われる。「acolyte」はカジュアルなファンには使わない。忠実すぎる従者というニュアンスも含む。
