非常に深く底の見えない穴や空間。または絶望や危機などの深い混乱した状態も指す。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「深淵」は物理的な深さだけでなく、精神的・感情的な深みを表す時にも使われ、主に文学的・詩的に用いられます。小さな穴や浅い場所には使いません。
