Definition

王や指導者などが自分の権力や地位を自ら放棄すること。また、責任を果たさない選択の意味もある。

主に歴史的・政治的な場面や法的文章で使われ、日常会話ではあまり使わない言葉。「退職」とは異なり、より大きな責任や権力の放棄を指す場合が多い。
