तकनीकी, गणितीय और रोज़मर्रा के संदर्भों में उपयोग होता है। अक्सर 'length' (लंबाई) और 'height' (ऊँचाई) के साथ आता है। आम वाक्यांश: 'the width of the table', 'adjust the width'। 'length' (लंबा हिस्सा) या 'depth' (गहराई) से न मिलाएँ।
