電話で誰が話しているのかわからない時に、相手が誰かをたずねる表現です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

電話でのカジュアルな言い方。初対面やよく知らない番号の時によく使います。フォーマルな場面には向いていません。

Examples

Who's on the line? I can't tell who is speaking.

**どなたが電話に出ていますか**？誰が話しているのかわかりません。

When you answer the phone, you can say, 'Who's on the line?'

電話に出たときは、 '**どなたが電話に出ていますか**？' と言えます。
