Brilhar com pequenos flashes de luz. Costuma descrever estrelas no céu noturno ou qualquer coisa que pisca rapidamente.

Usa-se especialmente para estrelas, luzes ou olhos num contexto poético. Como adjetivo: 'estrela cintilante'. 'In the twinkling of an eye' significa 'muito rápido'.
