Definition

「雷鳴」は雷の閃光の後に響く大きな音、あるいは誰かが非常に大きな声で話す様子に使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

天気の話では「雷鳴」がよく使われ、「激しい雷鳴」「遠くの雷鳴」などと表現します。詩的に人の声の大きさを表す場合もあります。「lightning」は「稲妻」なので混同しないでください。
