‘그들 자신’은 여러 사람이 자기 자신에게 어떤 행동을 하거나, 그들이 스스로 했다는 것을 강조할 때 쓰는 대명사입니다.

‘그들 자신’은 반드시 ‘그들(그 사람들이)’ 같은 복수 주어와 함께 씁니다. 'by themselves'(혼자서), 'for themselves'(스스로, 자기 이익을 위해) 등 다양한 표현이 있습니다. 주어로 쓰지 않습니다.

The children dressed themselves this morning.
