空気を読む察する

Definition

相手が直接は言わないけれど、言動や雰囲気から本当の意図を察知すること。例えば、やめてほしい時などによく使う。

主にカジュアルな場面で使われ、「空気読めない」と言い換えられることも多い。恋愛や場を離れてほしい時などの微妙なニュアンスにもよく使う。

Why didn’t you take a hint? She wanted to be alone.
