Definition

相手の意見や気持ちをさぐること。または、単語の文字を一つずつ音読すること。

ビジネスや大人の会話では意見を探る意味で使い、児童教育では単語を一字ずつ読む意味が多いです。「sound out a colleague」は意見を探る、「sound out the word」は音読するに当たります。
