Genellikle dokunuş (kıyafet, kumaş, deri), ses tonu veya birinin davranışındaki naziklik için kullanılır. 'the softness of her voice', 'the softness of the pillow' gibi kalıplarda görülür. Tat veya koku için kullanılmaz.
